HND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates seeking admission to the HND Mechanical Engineering programme must possess one of the following categories of qualifications:
(a) West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE or WASSCE)

(i) Passes in the following three core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science (Integrated/Core Science).
(ii) In addition, passes in any three of the following elective subjects: Engineering Science, Physics, Chemistry, Elective Mathematics, Metal work & Technical Drawing.  The cumulative aggregate must be 24 or better (or its equivalent for WASSCE candidates).

(b) General Certificate of Education (GCE)

(i) Advanced Level: Passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry;

 

PROFESSIONAL COURSES.

MOTOR VEHICLE TECHNICIANS (MVT) PART 1

PROGRAMME DURATION: 1 YEAR (2 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1.    A good pass in Motor Vehicle Mechanics (MVM).
                              OR
2.     The equivalent of MVM.
                              OR
3.    WASSCE/SSSCE candidates with average pass in English Language, Mathematics and three relevant elective subjects (Physics, Auto Mechanic and Technical Drawing).

 

MOTOR VEHICLE TECHNICIANS (MVT) PART II

PROGRAMME DURATION: 1 YEAR (2 SEMESTERS)

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN COURSE PART II (MET II)

PROGRAMME DURATION: 1 YEAR (2 SEMESTERS)
ADMISSION   REQUIREMENTS
1.  A good Pass in Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET I) Part l
                        OR
2. The equivalent of MET I

MECHANICAL   ENGINEERING   TECHNICIANS   PART III  (MET III)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

HND MARKETING

PROGRAMME DURATION: 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
A. WASSCE/SSSCE/RSA II (New Scheme) Applicants: - Passes in three (3) Core subjects (English             Language, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies PLUS three (3) passes in Business Electives (Introduction to Business Management, Accounting, Principles of Cost Accounting or Secretarial Electives (Introduction to Business Management, Typewriting, and Clerical Office Duties) or Geography, History, Economics and Elective Mathematics).  The Cumulative Aggregate must be 24 or better.

B. Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language and Modern Mathematics. PLUS Three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes including Business Management or Economics or Accounting plus General Paper.
                           OR
ii. RSA Stage ll/Ghana Commercial Examinations Stage ll with passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Accounting, Business   Mathematics, Economics/Commerce/Marketing / Information Technology. PLUS Three (3) RSA Stage III passes one of which must be Credit.

                            OR
Five (5) passes in Diploma in Business Studies (All Options).
1.    LCCI / City and Guilds Pitman’s Applicants:  Candidates must have the Advanced Certificate in         
three (3) relevant subjects plus five(5) passes at the Intermediate Level including Business Mathematics/Calculation and  English  Language.

D. MATURE  APPLICANTS

  1. Must be at least 25 years old
  2. Must have at least five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credit passes or 5 SSSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics or 5 RSA II passes  including English Language & Business Mathematics.
  3. Must be engaged in professional practice for at least two years and exhibit appreciable communication skills.
  4. Must pass a written examination and an interview.
  5. BECE Certificate is a prerequisite for SSSCE/RSA II /   WASSEC applicants

CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF MARKETING (UNITED KINGDOM)

PART-TIME

A. CERTIFICATE  LEVEL

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1.  i.    WASSCE/SSSCE /RSA  II  Applicants: Passes in 6 subjects including, English and Mathematics / Business Mathematics
     ii.   GCE ‘O’ Level Applicants:  Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credit  passes including English Language and Mathematics

  2. B.  GCE ‘A’ Level/RSA lll Applicants: - Candidates must have passes in three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level subjects or RSA Stage lll Passes. In addition to the above requirements, candidates must have GCE ‘O’ Level or RSA II Credit passes in 5 subjects including    English and Mathematics. GCE ‘A’ Level Candidates must have a pass in General Paper.
  3. C. DBS Applicants:  Candidates must have five (5)   DBS  passes.    PLUS 5 GCE O’Level credit passes        including English and Mathematics or 5 RSA II credit passes including  English & Business Mathematics or  5 WASSCE/SSSCE passes including English and Mathematics.
  4. D. LCCI / City and Guilds Pitman’s Qualification:  Candidates must have the Advanced Certificate in three (3) relevant subjects plus five (5) passes at the Intermediate Level including Mathematics. Calculation and English Language.
  5. E.  MATURE APPLICANTS

i.   Must be at least 25 years old
ii   must have at least five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credit passes or five      (5) SSSCE/ RSA II passes  including English Language and Mathematics.                                                 
iii. Must have at least two years working experience
iv. Must pass a written examination and an interview
v.  BECE Certificate is a prerequisite for SSSCE/RSA II / WASSCE applicants.

COOKERY PART 1 (8121)

PROGRAMME DURATION:  2 YEARS (4 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Basic Education Certificate (BECE) Holders:- Must possess Passes in BECE with an aggregate of eighteen (18) or better including English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  2. NVTI Certificate Holders:- Must posses NVTI Grade ll and/or Grade l (Both Written).
  3. WASSCE/SSSCE/RSA II Holders:- Candidates with overall  aggregate of thirty (30) or  Better will  take the course for one (1) year (2 semesters).

 

COOKERY PART II (ADVANCED COOKERY) 8122

PROGRAMME   DURATION: 1 YEAR (2 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSION   REQUIREMENTS
Cookery  Part 1 plus one year industrial experience.
